1:1 Mentoring Through The Art School Application Process
Get direct feedback from an art school professor with 28 years experience to talk through your work and learn exactly what admissions teams are looking for in an “accepted” art school portfolio.
You’re Trying To Build A Winning Portfolio Off Of YouTube And Speculation
You’ve got a lot going on as a high school senior. Between class, extracurriculars, and a part-time job, there isn’t time to waste making art that doesn’t actually help you get into college.
The problem is…you’re stuck piecing together your application from “my accepted portfolio” videos and hoping the pieces you’re spending precious free time on are the right ones.
With admissions season looming on the calendar, every week without direction is a valuable week of creating time you can’t get back.
Get Private Mentorship That Actually Moves
Your Portfolio Forward
With 1:1 mentoring, you’ll get my focused feedback on what’s missing from your portfolio and how to maximize your limited time to create the best possible portfolio before the deadline.
Instead of building pieces around what a TikTok stranger did (who has a completely different technique and story than you), I’ll guide you with your unique artistic style in mind, and critique your work the way an actual admissions panel would.
Here’s How We’ll Get Your Portfolio
Admissions Season Ready
STEP #1
Pick Your Session Package
Every session is an hour long 1:1 with me. You can choose between 1, 2, or 4 sessions depending on how much ground you need to cover. During our call, we’ll focus on removing the obstacles keeping your portfolio “average”.
STEP #2
Build The Skills Your Portfolio Is Missing
There are always specific skills most portfolios are lacking. For example, rigorous drawing, color, and 3D work are rare in the portfolios I see today. We’ll identify the gaps in your work and exactly where your skills need to grow to close them.
STEP #3
Present Your Work In Its Best Light
One poorly lit photo or overcrowded slide can undo a strong portfolio. Once your work is ready, we’ll make sure it’s presented in a way that accurately represents the quality of your work. This is where insider knowledge makes a huge difference.

Here’s How To Decide If
1:1 mentoring Is Right For You…
-
No. Some students book mentoring before they’ve made anything, specifically to avoid spending time on the wrong pieces. Others come in mid-portfolio to check their direction or troubleshoot something specific.
-
A Portfolio Critique is a 30-minute, recorded video walkthrough of a finished (or nearly finished) portfolio where I give you feedback on each piece. mentoring is live, one-on-one, and works at any stage, including before you’ve started making work.
-
It depends on where you’re starting from and how complete you feel your current skill set is. Some students get everything they need from a single hour, others prefer 2 or 4 sessions to work through their portfolio or skill development in stages. If you’re not sure, 1 session is a safe starting point, you can always add more later.
-
We’ll go through your work, your intended major, and your goals together. Depending on where you’re at, that might mean identifying skill gaps, reviewing specific pieces, or helping you figure out what to make next.
-
Sessions are live and one-on-one with me. I can record them upon request.
-
The earlier, the better – especially if we’re identifying a skill gap that takes time to close. Booking with only a few weeks left limits how much we can actually improve before you submit.
-
You can absolutely book on your student’s behalf. The sessions themselves are one-on-one with your student directly.
-
Yes, unused sessions expire at the end of March for the admissions season they were purchased for.
-
You can book additional sessions or upgrade into the full Art School Admissions Bundle, which includes mentoring, a Portfolio Critique, and Statement Editing together.

Have a clear idea of your gaps so you can close them before your deadline
Understand what your intended major involves so you’re not building a portfolio around something that doesn’t work for you
Walk away with specific next steps to create your best possible portfolio

Head into the rest of admissions season with concrete direction on how to build the best portfolio
You Can Put A Portfolio Together On Your Own. But It Won’t Be As Strong As The One You’re Capable Of.
You’ve got the drive to make this happen, and you don’t need anyone’s permission to keep going without help.
But talent doesn’t always equal acceptance. Only expert guidance can tell you where your portfolio is falling short and what admissions teams are actually going to see when they start clicking through your work.
Join me one-on-one to see the difference between the portfolio you could make and the one you’re capable of making with the right mentoring in your corner.
