1:1 Mentoring Through The Art School Application Process
Get direct feedback from an art school professor with 28 years experience to talk through your work and learn exactly what admissions teams are looking for in an “accepted” graduate portfolio.
What Worked In Your Undergraduate Portfolio Won’t Work Here
As an experienced artist, you can produce a variety of quality work. But what nobody tells you is that the variety that made your undergrad portfolio strong can work against you at the MFA level.
Where undergraduates need to show range, graduates need to show depth. The problem is…there’s no one in your corner explaining what that shift actually looks like in practice. So you have no idea if your work has the maturity and polish you need to get in.
With admissions season looming on the calendar, every week without an educated feedback is a valuable week of creating time you can’t get back.
Get Private Mentorship That Elevates Your Portfolio To MFA Standards
With 1:1 mentoring, you’ll get my focused feedback on what’s missing from your portfolio and how to maximize your limited time to create the best possible portfolio before the deadline.
Instead of building pieces around skill-alone, I’ll teach you how to turn your unique artistic style into a coherent vision, and critique your work the way an actual admissions panel would.
Here’s How We’ll Get Your Portfolio
Admissions Season Ready
STEP #1
Pick Your Session Package
Every session is an hour long 1:1 with me. You can choose between 1, 2, or 4 sessions depending on how much ground you need to cover. During our call, we’ll focus on removing the obstacles keeping your portfolio at the undergrad level.
STEP #2
Build The Skills You’re Missing
There are always specific blind spots most portfolios have. For example, pieces that feel scattered, a statement that doesn’t address the “why”, or cliche choices that panels have seen a million times. We’ll identify exactly what needs to shift to close the gap.
STEP #3
Present Your Work In Its Best Light
One poorly lit photo or overcrowded slide can undo a strong portfolio. Once your work is ready, we’ll make sure it’s presented in a way that accurately represents the quality of your work. This is where insider knowledge makes a huge difference.

Here’s How To Decide If
1:1 Mentoring Is Right For You…
-
No. Some students book mentoring before they’ve made anything, specifically to avoid spending time on the wrong pieces. Others come in mid-portfolio to check their direction or troubleshoot something specific.
-
A Portfolio Critique is a 30-minute, recorded video walkthrough of a finished (or nearly finished) portfolio where I give you feedback on each piece. mentoring is live, one-on-one, and works at any stage, including before you’ve started making work.
-
It depends on where you’re starting from and how far along your portfolio is. Some applicants get everything they need from a single hour, others prefer 2 or 4 sessions to work through cohesion, statement development, and overall direction in stages. If you’re not sure, 1 session is a safe starting point, you can always add more later.
-
We’ll go through your work, your intended program, and your goals together. Depending on where you’re at, that might mean identifying what’s missing conceptually, reviewing specific pieces, or helping you figure out what to make next.
-
Sessions are live and one-on-one with me. I can record them upon request.
-
The earlier, the better — especially if we’re working through something that takes time to close, like cohesion across your body of work or a statement that needs real development. Booking with only a few weeks left limits how much we can actually improve before you submit.
-
Yes, unused sessions expire at the end of March for the admissions season they were purchased for.
-
You can book additional sessions or upgrade into the full Art School Admissions Bundle, which includes mentoring, a Portfolio Critique, and Statement Editing together.

Here’s How Different Admissions Season Looks After 1:1 Mentoring…
Know which portfolio pieces are working and which ones to cut
Have a clear idea of your gaps so you can close them before your deadline
Understand what your intended program involves so you’re not building a portfolio around something that doesn’t fit your professional goals
Walk away with specific next steps to create your best possible portfolio
Know how to photograph and present your work so it doesn’t get brushed off before a reviewer even looks closely
Head into the rest of admissions season with concrete direction on how to build the best portfolio
You Can Put A Portfolio Together On Your Own. But It Won’t Be As Strong As The One You’re Capable Of.
You’ve got the drive to make this happen, and you don’t need anyone’s permission to keep going without help.
But talent doesn’t always equal acceptance. And a lot of applicants end up applying more than once because their portfolios are reading like undergrad work and they don’t know it (or how to fix it).
Only expert guidance can tell you where your portfolio is falling short and what admissions teams are actually going to see when they start clicking through your work.
Join me one-on-one to see the difference between the portfolio you could make and the one you’re capable of making with the right mentoring in your corner.
